I got yesterday (even after the changes) a similar error. Stupidly I clicked it away... and as ususal: now I can not trace what and how it happend.
@Peppe: I just downloaded and tested openjump-core-1.2-20081015-bin. It did work on my computer? Do you still have the problem?
