Hi,

a) deegree 2 is now in a more or less stable state. That means probably
we will not have major changes at the current code base of deegree 2.
Indepent of this, we have started planning for next major release of
deegree (deegree 3). But this is not so important if you are goning to
use deegree for your developments now (on next deegree day - 18.6. in
Bonn - we will present state of current planning)

b) deegree and so deeJUMP had used proj4 connected by JNI for CRS and
CRS transformation implementation. Unfortunately this has not been very
stable because of different reasons, so we started implemneting our own
API. This is now in a stable state (additional functions and supported
projections still will be added) and more or less indepent of other
deegree components, so it easyly can be used outside of deegree. It is
true that we developed a simple and easy to understand XML synthax for
describing CRS and transformations but to be compliant with other source
we also started to develop converters. At the moment a converter for
proj4 crs definition is available; converters for GML3 and EPSG database
will follow.

I hope this clearifies the situation of deegree's development state.

best regards

ANDREAS
