Stefan,

I wonder if the deegree folks have already made the modifications that
you mentioned? I've been working with Andreas Poth and some of the
other deegree developers, and they didn't mention any major changes in
the pipeline.

In fact, Andreas even gave me some working code examples.

I don't think this is the case any more. The deegree developers
mentioned that they had ported the ESPG CRS definitions and some other
common definitions to their own XML format. This XML format also
allows custom projections to be defined. (I haven't explored the
custom projection idea much, but I will eventually.)

In summary, I think their code may be ready for use in OpenJUMP. I
haven't looked at the other library you mentioned, but their code
seems simpler than the code in GeoTools, and it seems prudent to
continue building a relationship with our friends at deegree.

I'm willing to consider all options. Perhaps the deegree folks can
clarify the status and stability of their transformation code. I will
copy them on this e-mail so that they have a change to respond.

Thank you for your input Stefan. I agree that we shouldn't use deegree
code if it is about to undergoe major changes.

Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
It's the best place to buy or sell services for
just about anything Open Source.
