I'm back of Corsica (good holidays :-)). I add some comments.
first of all, sorry, Sunburned, for not having answered your email yet.
I'll do so. Meanwhile see my comments below.

This is a good point. Sunburned says he wants to join efforts, but that
sort of thing is fragmenting the project. Do we really need a 2nd wiki?
I think that the wiki of openjump is more than enough. The wiki is clear and easy to use. It's the best reference for OJ.

Why do you think our main platform is Windows??? True, we develop as we
get fundings (like any other SW Develop. company). Unfortunately I don
not have time off work to dedicate to OJ. One of the things I've done on
my own private time in the past was the plug-in manager. Sadly, it's
lying around on my HD.

We do try to wrap our plug-ins in extensions and deliver to the
community, but I don't have time for that either...Furthermore, the two
most important changes to OJ base code needed core changes too. Stefan
was the one who went into all the trouble of porting the point
symbolizers to OJ. the point is, the changes to OJ are way too fast and
somewhat chaotic, and I cannot respond as quickly.

SIGLE has two versions one for linux another for windows (because we use gdal for read raster files). We opened an area on sourceforge in order to make available our developments (release and cvs). The site is under construction.
We make many efforts to merge the official openjump with sigle version (see :http://www.projet-sigle.org/wiki/wakka.php?wiki=OpenJUMPPage). It's sure we can improve our road map and dev method but projet-sigle is very much in demand while contributos are limited.

This is a good point. One thing is to decide what's needed in the core
(raster support? yes. mrsid support? no, plug-in! point symbolizers?
yes. postgis support? yes? plug-in manager? yes! this will also require
a web server, where the plug-in reside. etc, etc...)

Well, some OJ people will be there. It'll be a chance to meet and define
targets. Decisions should be taken when Sunburned is accessible. Perhaps
we could organize his virtual presence (a chat or some teleconference).
Martin Davis will also be there and it'll be a chance to ask for his
opinion.
A chat is a good point.
