FullStory have massive Solr clusters, and some of them have 1000+ cores/node.
It is working well for FullStory, but restart times, understandably, are a
sensitive issue for ops there.
bq. I'd expect the number of cores per node to be a pretty big driver of the
overall restart duration. 750 cores per node feels like a bit of an edge
use-case, doesn't it?
Yes, I think FullStory has one of the largest deployments of Solr in the world.
