Jan Høydahl commented on SOLR-15949: ------------------------------------ I'm not going to veto your suggestion, just wanted to ask questions regarding compat break. We have users that inherit Solr images in FROM, and all their Dockerfiles would need re-work. It's really unfortunate that we'd need to go the opposite direction just because OpenJDK decided to stop releasing official JRE images. I love the idea of a super slim Solr image! Just found [eclipse-temurin:17-jre|https://hub.docker.com/layers/eclipse-temurin/library/eclipse-temurin/17-jre/images/sha256-610b21153ad4e0745073dcf2040e7dbb2bee7e9566b42025a2b53055352c62d9?context=explore], which is on a slim Ubuntu, weighing 288Mb. Could that be a new default, and then we could optionally publish one on eclipse-temurin:17-jre-alpine in addition? But then we need to maintain two Dockerfiles... > Use Java 17 in docker > --------------------- > > Key: SOLR-15949 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-15949 > Project: Solr > Issue Type: Improvement > Security Level: Public(Default Security Level.
