Hi Jenn,

On a similar train of thought, an intriguing idea popped up in a
semi-private online community I'm a member of. A meme that deserves to be
propagated...

It started with one person remembering reading a story years ago about a
series of murders in Israel. The victims were all women and the murderer
was determined to be a man. The heads of the government got together to
discuss what to do, and decided women should be subject to a curfew, for
their own safety. At this point Golda Meir spoke up and said "Why don't we
subject men to a curfew [and thereby keep the killer inside]?"

The next person posted about a similar discussion she and a friend had the
previous night.

The friend said several years ago there were a number of violent attacks
on women at the University of Minnesota. The police told women they
shouldn't go out after dark. And if they did, to travel either with a man,
or in groups of three or more.

And a women's group on campus wrote a letter to the editor saying that
women hadn't done anything wrong. Maybe *men* should be escorted in large
groups around campus...

...Just a little food for thought.

Andrew.
