Yes, I am referring to workplace situations -- employee/boss,
worker/customer, employee/employee, -- and other stranger-
on-the-street situations, such as police officer/civilian, person
asking directions/person giving directions. It's a very different
vibe when my father calls me 'honey' than when my bigoted male
boss does.
As for those pockets of the U.S. where men refer to men in such
terms, I've never heard of it! Backs up my assertion that I've
been to parts of the U.S. that feel way more foreign than foreign
countries!
