[~sershe] Thank you for the review. 
1) I have tested manually against Derby/MySQL/Oracle/Postgres. I havent been 
able to test with SQL Server (I intend to see if there is a way setup a cloud 
instance of SQL server and run some quick tests).
2) I also ran the automatic metastore upgrade(HIVE-9800/HIVE-10239) & 
validation(HIVE-11072) test framework with the changes and it clears the test.

I am investigating these PerfCliDriver failures above. I am running them 
locally now but they seem to hang for ever. I am using {{mvn test 
-Dtest=TestPerfCliDriver -Dqfile=query1.q -Phadoop-2 }} from itests/qtest 
folder to run the tests. I am tried other test files too. Same result. Do you 
know if there is a better way to run these tests locally? Thanks
