There was a lot of whine back in 2007, but today the licence seems pretty
well accepted.
All the issues with busybox and the linux kernel (like on some Android)
helped i think.
At first developers thought it was too restrictive but after some practical
cases where the code was "stolen" and made unavailable for users/developers
without breaking the GPLv2 they started thinking about it again.
The GPLv3 is just to be sure the code can't be blocked with some hardware
chips (checksum or whatever) forbidding the developers/users to
update/modify the executable.
