Seconded ... even something like strict mode should be 'removable' to provide a smaller faster 'classic' PHP even if it does mean there are two builds. But we already HAVE two builds ... people who want strongly typed and pre-compiled PHP simply use HHVM. There is no need to drag PHP down the same road map?
