Are you referring to the changing Subject? If so, I prefer Subjects that reflect message content, whereas threading can, should, and usually does rely on Message-ID, In-Reply-To, and References headers. If this mailing list has a different rule - such as to keep the Subject fixed even when discussion deviates - I am willing to follow it indeed... In fact, this is what I did now (kept the Subject although this message is not on the patch anymore), even though I dislike having to do it.
