*gato 'stam arkaH* (“the sun is setting”) might be an indication of time (so Daṇḍin's Kāvyādarśa 2.224). Elsewhere (and that is relevant for me), *gato 'stam arkaH* is understood to suggest 1. to Brahmins to perform their evening rituals or 2. to traders to close their shops.
