Ken, I'm not sure I follow all of your reply to my message. I do use the "dev" repository because I need more frequent updates than the six month window of the release repository. I would prefer to stay a bit further off the bleeding edge but infrequent security updates of the release repository is a problem for me. Therefore, it would be to my advantage to have free updates to the stable release of OpenSolaris. My requirement wouldn't be anything like a fully supported product. I only need critical security and stability fixes (much like what we get in public patches on Solaris 10 now). I don't need anything like the level of support a contract customer would get. I don't presume to tell Oracle how to run its business. I'm merely answering the question posed from my point of view. The release repository would be more useful to me (and I'd guess others as well) if at least critical updates were provided between 6 month releases.
