Hello, There is another way to install OpenOffice with a non-English GUI, which will avoid using the language packs.
Just download and install the archive corresponding to your system and your favorite language. For instance, OOo_3.0.0rc4_20080930_SolarisSparc_install_wJRE_fr.tar.gz will stand for the SolarisSparc version with a French GUI (also including French dictionaries ...).
