The problem with this approach is that simply clicking "new"
will always be much faster than choosing a previous template in a
specific folder, not to mention the hassle of creating the
template(s) in the first place. Also, if we are meant to work
with template as a workaround for signatures, there wouldn't be
much of a purpose to the signature field in identity section.
Well, signatures are text meant to not change regularly. If you
regularly need to remove, say, your phone number, you better have two
identities. Still, they should be displayed at some place.
Non-editable signatures are not new to my users. Undisplayed
signatures are.
I will investigate templates/draft answers. I like the way they are
provided in whups as ready-made boilerplate answers.
Yes, that's how stationery worked in H4, and this is how templates
should be applied to the compose window in a future feature. In that
context, it even makes sense to support place holders again.
