You can run MS Office from a MS Windows 2000 Server running terminal services. You will only need to install the MS terminal services client on your windows boxes. In fact you can run a large number of windows apps using terminal services under Windows 2000. The main problem with windows apps is that they assume that you are running a single user workstation. Another option of running Windows apps remotely is to use Citrix.
Under Linux, you can run almost any app remotely on a server. The only limitations are that your app doesn't need to use specific hardware on server like sound cards and in most cases OpenGL apps. Also a lot of apps don't perform as well when run on a server as they would if you run them locally. Ambar PS: OpenOffice under Linux will work from a remote server! ----- Original Message ----- Hi Guys, Is it possible to run office/group ware software from web on thin client like SoftMaker Office anywhere but it should be free ....without having to install it at local machine can do the same in open office?? ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
