Hi there, This problem will NOT go away by doing PASV ftp. What is happenning is -
- Client connects to server and authenticates. - Server responds and sends a port to client to connect on - which in this case is 1179 for data. - Client is not able to connect and times out. Reason: There seems to be a firewall (Or ipchains / iptables doing masq.) doing NAT for server public IP address 64.164.13.157 to local IP address 192.168.0.5 AND tcp port numbers > 1024 are all blocked. You will need to open them and it should work. May need to open on both client and server end firewalls. This situation has nothing to do with Linux being a router or not.
