Which means that you are using you linux machine as router [ obvious ].

I hope you are not using the default windows ftp client to upload files. I
recommend against it. Try a better ftp client.

and I hope you are connectiing to port 21 of the ftp server.

You will have to enable the passive mode in your ftp client.
