Some of the most common errors are usually the smallest ones. :-) Or maybe I am just presuming here.

How is your firewall set on the (FTP) server? Try setting it to No-Firewall and then see if it works. Or maybe you need a longer timeout period then.

Run 'setup' as root, set firewall to "No Firewall" and reboot the system. Alternatively, run "service ipchains stop" and "service iptables stop" as root.

And are you using WU-FTP? Take a look at the configuration file too.

Hi,

I have a Red Hat Linux 7.1 server and two Windows clients connected to it.
While doing FTP I am getting following error and connection gets
disconnected. Can anybody suggest why this error is coming. Is it because of
ISP or my server.

Opening data connection IP: 64.164.13.157 PORT: 1179.
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly
respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because
connected host has failed to respond.
PORT 192,168,0,5,11,46
500 Invalid PORT Command.
