Hey

Try the following set of commands , i did the same when i blew up my linux
partition

1) start the system in Linux rescue mode
2) mknod /dev/hda
3) mount /dev/hda( whatever ur / drive no. was)
4) repeat step 3 for /boot
5) e2fsck -f (force file system check n repair)
6) mount /dev/hda(no.) /mnt/(directory)
7) chroot /mnt/(directory)
8) cd        "        "
9) sync
10) check lilo.conf and change settings as applicable

if e2fsck -f fails then u can wave g'bye to ur system. otherwise these
commands have proven to be useful in recovering my partitions in RH 7.2

one more thing, why do u need a 1GB swap partition????
