The drives are OK and work perfectly under Win98. 
I forgot to get the /etc/fstab file. In fact the mount
process is shown when I do a ps -ax. And it is there indefinitely.
Can't even kill it with kill -9. I think, I will get the /etc/fstab 
tomorrow.

I even tried it without using fstab settings.

mount -tvfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

Is there some problem if I give this command.

failing, being old, and need repairs? Are they being
recognised at the time of boot? Pl check.
