Hi , Well a couple of points , firstly shouldn't we move our discusion pertaining to this topic off the main list. Either join with some existing list or make a new mailing list . It's just a suggestion . As for points mentioned in your letter . There are couple of issue's . 1)After installation support :- Well this is quite an tricky issue , since most of the support in OSF/FSF based softwares comes from volunteering(mailing list,#irc chan etc) . I don't know how many coporates will be eager to place there whole system support at the hands of some unknown, untraceable guy's . Who are available only on the internet .Maybe we can have a model where a company can choose btw two modes of migration a)The company involves it's own people and the migration team will guide them and help them in migration . It will totally free only manpower of company will be used . But they have to place the support(after installation) at the hands of volunteers
b)They approach migration team and it guides them to linux based companies in that field .From there onwards the approaching company can deal with linux solution provider themselve .They can still approach MT(migration team) for help . What do you all say ? 2)Well as for migration ,well we can start identifying firstly kind of corporate business that will benefit the most from migration and will be easiest to migrate . any suggestion for such business(s) or business activites? Then we can make a plan how to incoporate linux in ther e work model without causing to much of a shift in the work paradigm . 3) At the same time we can start looking at the various standard linux products like Apache webserver, openoffice, etc which are mature enough to be fitted directly in the migration cycle without any great effort on our part . We can start listing such products ? Lastly should we come up with a small site either withing DLUG/LAP or any place where we can document our efforts(if any effort is put in ;>) Bye Tushar Shah __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
