hi nitin 1. cable net connection - i believe you can connect to the internet using the win machine. can you give more details on how you connect to the internet - do you supply any username and password, and what is the default gateway? if you don't supply any username password while connecting to the net, you'll need the default gateway which you can get from the windows network config - or ask your cable operator. you'll need to specify this gateway in the linux machine. login using root, type "netconf" - under that "Routing and Gateways" -> "Set Defaults". it'll ask for Default Gateway - enter yours : (e. g. 172.0.0.1) - accept everything, then reboot. after reboot, login using your id, type "ping 202.54.1.30" just to check whether connectivity has been established. if you get a reply, it means net connection is working. now type "ping mantraonline.com" - if it gives some IP address, it means your DNS is also working - else if it gives "Unknown host mantraonline. com", then you'd need to setup the DNS. login using root, again type "netconf", select "Name Server Specifications (DNS)" - under it, enter the DNS Address provided to you by your cable operator in "IP of the name server 1". Accept everything. now try "ping mantraonline. com" - if it shows you some ip, then your net connection is working.
