It costs to buy embedded system hardware, test your stuff in real world. Web tech is not like that. You can do all of it in your laptop. Plus you get instant gratification when you see your work appearing on a browser window.
Plus the hardware industry is closed and proprietary in nature, web and its standards are open and free for all.
