He does mention pIII which is what confused me. Usually I don't get misled.

Anyway why talk about PIII if you are talking in 2011. We live in a
very changed
world no? ;)

Anyway if you want to buy fresh hardware just buy whatever your budget
allows you and I bet you can run Debian on it.

It is a non issue.

However if you wish to run Linux on your PIII that is not a problem if
you can run Debian.

Remember, always.

People's recommendations are based on preferences and knowledge.

I may write something in C because I like C. Someone may use something else.

Similarly there are no clear answers.
