When I meant RPM is passe I was implying it from the fact tthat ubuntu has
eaten over the share of both fedora and opensuse(for a diff reason ) .
Fedora started it's spin projects and even started giving the project a new
look only after it realised the stiff competition from Ubuntu .

I dunno about others .. but as a small community maintainer . I knew how
easy it was to get distro cd's shipped from cannonical (shipit) in a
european country compared to a fedora ambassador locally .

No I don't have exact count of how many windows installations in netbooks
are still running windows neither do I have the count of how many
installations of Ubuntu remix . Well M$ does such surveys .. yeah they win
and they proclaim that they rule the netbook market .
As far as I know almost all of them have  shifted for a ubuntu netbook
version after erasing the windows .. Yes that's a small sample of users and
may differ in different areas.
