I have to concede I still don't understand the ruckus over the order in posting! Guidelines are definitely not rules. Fine, even if bottom-posting is mandatory here, IMO one doesn't have to raise a hue and cry over anyone *not* sticking to it whatever be the reasons. If a newbie sent a mail not satisfying the guidelines, it's upto the admin's discretion to mail the person on top-posting or whatever - but when someone's asking for some advice or something real urgent to be dealt with and requires help, it breaks the continuity of the mail and becomes sorta irritating after a while.Everyone has their own priorities and flaming repeatedly on guidelines that people are either ignorant off or don't deem it necessary to adhere to eventually beats the purpose of the mailing list! I'm sure there are better things than nit picking frequently. I agree that some action (?) should be taken say for a vacation responder left on or advertisements of some type or those random silly mails that one has learnt to ignore. But to keep harping on posting and structure becomes irritating too. I've learnt to delete and ignore, and isn't the whole posting-issue turning out to a be a worse waste of time than say, the time saved by bottom-posting? It's like the debate on dress codes - as long as person works efficiently or atleast satisfactorily, what (s)he's wearing doesn't really matter. It's a matter of comfort to the wearer. I'm sure the admins find nit picking tedious too and if you're pointing it out to the same person again, maybe the person simply doesn't want to work that way. If you don't agree with the format of a person, just go ahead and delete any mails. And it's kinda unfair - permitting posting in any language even if a lot of readers don't understand while getting worked up over the structure! And that response of admins bending rules reminds one of the Indian political bureaucracy! We understand that a lot of people are going outta their way to be helpful and for sustaining the list- but this stringent attitude on something so trivial has/will continue to put off a lot people. What is applicable to the gander is applicable to the goose :) Cheers, Kadambari. -- Check out my blog at http://kadambarid.livejournal.com _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
