I use Net-SNMP and SNMPTT.

This is how I am doing for SNMP traps:

When a trap is received by snmptrapd, it passes the trap information to
SNMPTT software.I configured SNMPTT.conf based on traps I want to deal
with. When the trap meets the configuration setup on SNMPTT.conf, SNMPTT
can execute a program. From the program, you can pass the information to
Icinga.

This is simple and works very well.
