Depends how you define "API". We do discuss that on a regular basis in
Icinga 2, but it's rather "undefined" in terms of a design draft
(therefore the issue tracker remains silent on that). In terms of Icinga
Web 2, there's the CLI and get-every-view-via-unique-url HTTP feature -
that in terms could turn into an API too somehow.
We probably should sit together and draw lots of pictures somewhere in
the future. Until then, there's more work to do fixing the current bugs
towards a stable release.

Anyways. Icinga is a learning process, and we can only get better. You should
really checkout Icinga Web 2 git, and its cli. Even that's not released nor
provides much details, it's the pro tip of the future utilizing the backend
implementation. ask tom about rest apis then.
