I was referring to the OP's "Is there a ... free alternative emulator ...?" Frankly I don't think I have seen any resistance to OCO in twenty years, other than on this list. Many, many customers nowadays would not know what to do with a piece of assembler source if you gave it to them. Customers are pressing to have exits go away. In other words, they *want* local customization to be parameters plus object code, not source code.
