From what I can tell from the documentation, both native TSO SUBMIT and ISPF SUBMIT (via ISPCTLx) do not allow job submission for anything other than RECFM=FB LRECL=80 datasets.
As SDSF "SJ" uses EDIF and implicitly ISPF SUBMIT it is limited by the TSO/ISPF restrictions. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU] On Behalf Of Paul Gilmartin Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2018 3:16 PM To: IBM-MAIN@LISTSERV.UA.EDU Subject: Re: 2 possible RFE --- ISPF & SDSF. If you know of any current z/OS documentation that mentions an 80 character limit applicable to SYSIN, let me know and I'll submit an RCF. I have long used either FTP or allocated SYSOUT=(,INTRDR) to submt jobs with much longer SYSIN. The TCPIP Ref. states a limit of 254 for FTP FILE=JES, which is enforced (archaic and needless, IMO). JES3 has supported long SYSIN as long as I can remember; JES2 since z/OS circa 1.5. -- gil ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@listserv.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN ================================ Rocket Software, Inc. and subsidiaries ■ 77 Fourth Avenue, Waltham MA 02451 ■ Main Office Toll Free Number: +1 855.577.4323 Contact Customer Support: https://my.rocketsoftware.com/RocketCommunity/RCEmailSupport Unsubscribe from Marketing Messages/Manage Your Subscription Preferences - http://www.rocketsoftware.com/manage-your-email-preferences Privacy Policy - http://www.rocketsoftware.com/company/legal/privacy-policy ================================ This communication and any attachments may contain confidential information of Rocket Software, Inc.
