If you know of any current z/OS documentation that mentions an 80 character
limit applicable to SYSIN, let me know and I'll submit an RCF.

I have long used either FTP or allocated SYSOUT=(,INTRDR) to submt jobs
with much longer SYSIN.  The TCPIP Ref. states a limit of 254 for FTP
FILE=JES, which is enforced (archaic and needless, IMO).  JES3 has supported
long SYSIN as long as I can remember; JES2 since z/OS circa 1.5.
