Back in the 1990s I found the LE dumps very usable for debugging COBOL
programs.  I was easily able to find the various files and go through
working storage.  While not quite as good as Abend-aid, they were a
definite improvement over the standard SYSUDUMP.  I also was able to
teach other application programmers how to use them and see them put
the knowledge to use.
