ObJayMaynard In what way is it rational? The authors had certain
expectations, apparently based on wishful thinking; the data that I've
seen suggest that those expectations are not backed up by data.

Yes, we exhort users and applications programmers to RTFM; that
doesn't mean that a majority listens.
