Why not just release it under the MIT license like the main lua code from www.lua.org is released under? Unless, of course, the company does not want to release the source. That is certainly allowable under the original's MIT license. And is one reason that the MIT license exists and is used. I.e. it is allowed to "commercialize" a port of an MIT licensed product such as lua. Since this is "free as in beer" and not "freee as in freedom", then I _assume_ that one of the hopes is that the product will generate support contracts. Which could be jeopardized if the source is released.
