You can simply pay for the conference. It costs more if your company is not 
a member. It is not required that the company send you, AFAIK. As long as 
your company is a member, you can attend and pay the member price. If you 
are working at company X as a contractor, you can still attend as a member 
as long as company X is a member.

The presentations are mostly PDF files these days, though a few still had 
handouts (paper) the last time I went.

For 5 conferences. May be used by anyone in your company for 2 years. 
There are no refunds if you don't use them all.

The last time I looked, I thought that the "SHARE Live" was not a good deal, 
at least for me. It's about a third of the price for maybe a tenth of the 
available sessions. Very possibly not the ones that would interest you. 
It has been two years since I last went to SHARE, and none of the sessions 
that I attended was recorded, except for the Keynote session.
