Elardus,

I can see the enque from either system (console on waiting system). It is a GRS STAR configuration. I have looked in the manual you mention and that is why I am posting here. The manual really does not provide a reason for the enque. If it did then this might be a clue as to what the problem is. I have been through IBMLink to research the problem and have applied all of the PTFs which seem to fit without success.

Thanks for the ideas, plus I am still searching myself.

Cheers,
Tom

Can you see what ENQ is there from your other running LPAR(s)? What type of GRS
setup do you have? Star or Ring?

Look in 'MVS Planning: Global Resource Serialization' for 'Checking for ENQ
contention problems'. SYSIEFSD is mentioned there too amongst other possible
problems.

Good suggestion about Coupling Facility. Thanks for helping out.
I would also see what messages are there on other LPARs in the same SysPlex too.

I hope the OP does not have a hardware problem somewhere...
