Outside of the US companies tend to be semi lax in the people they
hire... In the US (In most companies) we demand the best and either we
get the best or they are moved to another position. No excuses for
"oops" is typical say for the security industry where millions of
dollars are on the line at any given minute.
Oh, now I understand. You are the best, so you have to be right. In wild
countries everything is worse. Peoples are idiots, hire another idiots,
and out mainframes are not for counting million of dollars, but rather
bananas or potatoes, so the impact is marginal.
In fact I can remember some IT-related affairs located in the US and
caused just by human errors. Of course you haven't heard about affair in
wild countries because we don't use print yet.
And to stop this thread: being "the best US specialist working for
proffesional US company" is no excuse to suggest stupid solutions like
denying usage of a tool instead of protecting resources.
