The comma is a result of a personal(?) idiosyncrasy. Since the late sixties, I have used columns 65-71 to indicate code changes (author,date); this practice permits detailed identification of modifications that may not be as obvious when provided as paragraph or program comments. Omitting the comma results in assembly errors.
