They're not talking about the size of root but about the size of the
entire z/OS distribution -- the download that replaces the z/OS
distribution tape, and which if done on z/OS goes into ZFS file space.
z/OS 1.12 will be the first release for us for which download is an
option. It turns out doing it this way has financial advantages for us,
because if anything physical is shipped with z/OS it is subject to State
sales/use tax while with purely electronic transfer it is not. Unlike
some times in past years, we have the 3390 DASD to spare; but its nice
to know there are other options with NFS.
