This is extremely interesting; thank you for giving this hint that GNU Taler is or will become legal. I am not yet entirely convinced that fraud prevention and money laundering regulation is not preventing partially anonymous payment as currently implemented. But I don’t find definitive answers. There is proposed regulation on the establishment of the digital euro, which suggests that changes in law and implementation are still needed. The Taler FAQ [1] suggests it is still too early, although Taler 1.0 release notes [2] considers operation in Switzerland to be legal. Nevertheless a toy merchant and exchange service in Guix with appropriate legal warnings would be nice.
