David, I think your position is a little exaggerated. The COPBL was envisaged as a "community effort" -- a set of expanding examples -- that alas didn't bear fruit. It has become a defacto standard (which is useful and has value), but it has never been presented as a supported, quality assured library to meet every need. It is a set of examples that are commonly useful. Eventually, I think it has to go in that direction, due to the increasing scarcity of sysadmin skills in a growing industry, The cron example you dislike was an example made for a training class to look like a Puppet example that someone claimed was impossible in CFEngine. As you probably know, we don't really condone the use of cron jobs on systems any more. We recommend running these jobs as commands within CFEngine for better control. I think it should probably not be there at all. Think of the COPBL as an RFC, What we are doing now is looking at a way to get more contributions and domain knowledge from the community, since the barrier to contribution seems always to be higher than most people are willing to climb. That is the spirit of cooperatiion we are entering into here. _______________________________________________ Help-cfengine mailing list Help-cfengine@cfengine.org https://cfengine.org/mailman/listinfo/help-cfengine
