This is the part I've had the most difficulty with - perhaps because I have significant programming background and zero CF2 experience. The documentation on the syntax, basic types, etc is somewhat intertwined into the opening of the reference manual; it feels almost as if it's documented in passing as opposed to receiving a nice structured description like everything else has. I'm still trying to figure out how to append to existing strings / lists (if that's possible), and where the boolean operators usable in the class specifiers are explicitly listed. :) This is not to criticise the intro in any way, though, as that section does a good job of introducing the concepts under the assumption that things will make more sense after reading a second or third time. ...Not that it should be a huge surprise that the documentation relies more on knowledge transfer through convergence rather than a defined set of steps. A dedicated section in the documentation describing each datatype, limits on those types, and operators (if any) usable on the RHS in various contexts would be appreciated. It'd probably simplify things, as, say, slist could just reference the slist datatype rather than having to duplicate the description of valid slist chars. _______________________________________________ Help-cfengine mailing list Help-cfengine@cfengine.org https://cfengine.org/mailman/listinfo/help-cfengine
