Deb - I don't know if Nova (which is what I think you use) defaults to 
using Tokyocabinet but my last seen database is cf_lastseen.db.  There 
is also a "lastseen" directory in /var/cfengine though mine is empty.  
That your were continuing to see old lastseen information suggests you 
either hit the wrong file or there was a lingering cf-serverd process 
that was keeping an open file handle on the file you thought you removed.

Anecdotally, I've noticed cfengine seems to update the db only 
periodically.  Doing a looping stat of the lastseen db file shows 
modification only happening every few minutes though there is constant 
load on the system from client access.  After I removed my lastseen 
database there was only an entry for the master for some time.  When I 
checked the next day it had populated again.
