What I would really like is for someone to say "Here's the perfect
answer and you don't actually need to do anything".

But I have some clear ideas about the kind of outcome I'd like to see
and so far I haven't been able to see something I can understand that
fits the job -- of course that could just be me (my time is pretty
limited at the moment).

So the track is still open for input, I'm just reflecting (or is that
refracting?)
