You should read the docs on the wiki if you're not familiar with it. As for the "Welcome" page, rather than overwriting it, you should create a new link in it, and start writing the text into the newly created page under your new link. Image is also possible, pls check the docs, I may have posted a link, anyhow it's the same syntax MediaWiki uses.
