I agree with every word you wrote.  The amount of work that many of us
put into this document, accounting for one another’s opinions even
though we initially started from very different positions, is amazing.
There were many insightful contributions throughout the discussion and
much participation during deliberation, which in itself is already an
achievement.

I have yet to better understand what it would take for the proposal to
pass, but here we are: with an informal but strong consensus among many
of us in favor of regulating of LLM usage in the project.  Let’s build
on that and move forward.

This is also a reminder that the GCD process is very ambitious—building
something together is much harder than showing up for a majority vote on
someone else’s proposal or than bowing before a BDFL—and it’s also
vulnerable.  I believe we can improve on that while preserving our
collective determination.
