You are right, of course. Indeed Guix would better now include a package even if the packaging is not ideal. I submitted a first attempt for g-golf-gtk-4-examples at <https://bugs.gnu.org/76246> <https://issues.guix.gnu.org/76246>. Thank you not only for the mighty G-Golf but also, by the way, for your patch to allow Guile-Cairo to run its tests. The patch has not reached upstream, but with it, the Guile-Cairo commit needed by examples can build in Guix. > when trying oe of the distributed example, they have > to use --no-grafts: > > is this requirement documented somewhere in guix by the way? No, as a requirement --no-grafts is not documented, just arcane knowledge in Debbugs. The option can be found in `guix build --help'. > Assuming you split as suggested, all example scripts could be > (automatically) 'guix patched' to pass the --no-grafts option (?). Yes, I guess grafts could be patched in using (with-parameters ((%graft? #f)) ...), but strangely the hello-world in the package runs fine even with grafts. I do not understand why it affects me elsewhere. Regards, Florian
