The problem is that now, we have fpga, electronics (mostly sigrok related), engineering and even ftdi (in its own module ??). In there, we randomly mix low level, mostly hardware related software, with high level pcb viewers and designers, acquisition, rtl modeling, logic synthesis, (co) simuation, waveforms, programming ... what about asics ? Rtl is not necessarily attached to fpgas, nor it is systemc.
